The Montessori Network provides access to current research on child development, parenting, family systems, neuroscience, and human potential.

A Sabbatical In 1980
A journey to the Washington Montessori Institute in D.C where he completed his training back in 1980, brought Thomas Cavanaugh back to Cheboygan to launch a public school Montessori classroom. That pioneering spirit inspires us today! |
45 North - Our VisionWe believe in creating meaningful, purpose driven educational content and a digital platform through the Montessori philosophy that focuses on the whole child. Where service to others, grace, courtesy and being intentional about worldly contributions start with a mindfulness and self awareness through the planes of development.
The Montessori Network utilizes an all-in-one video hosting and publishing platform that combines purpose driven technology with Montessori pedagogy providing an avenue to unite the Montessori schools in the United States and worldwide. 45 North B-Corp45 North will be setup as a B-Corp which is a legal business structure that allows the government to classify your business type. Certified B-Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B-Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
The main difference is that with a B-corp, you have a legally-binding social mission so the company can protect bottom lines, both financial and social. For example, If investors wanted to shift direction or strategy in order to make more money but that is in direct conflict with our mission and the company’s social impact, the entity can legally push back and lean on the B-corp status. It is a legally binding guidepost to make a difference! |

Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Schools will have to subscribe to launch the montessori network?
The Montessori Network could launch with limited content if 500 schools subscribed at an average rate of $1000 per school annually. As the number of schools increases, the content would follow. We would prioritize conferences, workshops and state required professional development as the first content on the network. As school subscriptions increase, licensed professional development content, original programs and marketing materials would be added. The ideal number of Montessori schools subscribed in the United States would be 2500.
Have you talked with teachers, heads of school's, and other people in montessori about the montessori network?
Yes, many of the constituents (Montessori Leaders Collaborative, Montessori Foundation, MPPI, AMI/AMS, NCMPS, Montessori for Social Justice, Heads of Schools, Guides, and Administrators) have provided feedback, ideas and posed questions regarding the Montessori network and many have been excited and supportive of the opportunity and concepts. We welcome your feedback and input.
how will the montessori network operate?
The schools would pay a yearly subscription service that would give access to the network for their entire staff. Depending on the number of schools subscribed the cost per school would be between $750-1500 a year. The higher number of schools participating would bring down the cost of the yearly subscription.
Will the montessori network take away from people attending ami, ams or other montessori conferences?
Regarding national conferences-We envision this as an opportunity to partner with AMI, AMS and other conference providers to increase their outreach to the community while meeting their needs as conference organizers.
